Zebeta (Bisoprolol)

Zebeta (Bisoprolol) is a beta-blocker, indicated to treat high blood pressure employed alone or in combination with other antihypertensive medication. Zebeta (Bisoprolol) has anti-ischemic properties; it  reduces the heart rate and myocardial contractility, which reduces the oxygen demand of the myocardium and improves its blood supply. In addition, it has a pronounced hypotensive effect: it reduces the overall peripheral resistance and reduces cardiac output.  Zebeta (Bisoprolol) reduces the heart rate, inhibits the activity of the sympathetic nervous system, lowers blood pressure, slows atrioventricular cardiac conduction. 

Indication for use

Zebeta (Bisoprolol) can be taken by almost all adults who have:

• arterial hypertension;

• coronary heart disease (angina pectoris)

• chronic heart failure with systolic dysfunction of the left ventricle in combination with ACE inhibitors, diuretics.

Precautions

Zebeta (Bisoprolol)  is not recommended to use if you have: hypersensitivity to bisoprolol or other components of the medication; acute heart failure; ardiogenic shock; blockade of the II and III degree; sick sinus syndrome; pronounced sinoatrial block; bradycardia with a heart rate of less than 60 beats per minute before starting therapy;arterial hypotension; severe bronchial asthma or severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; metabolic acidosis; pregnancy; period of lactation,

Dose and usage

Dose of Zebeta (Bisoprolol): 5 mg – pink, heart shaped, flat tablets with line in the middle,  10mg – white, heart shaped, flat tablets with the line in the middle.

Before taking this medication consult with your attending physician.

Zebeta (Bisoprolol) should be taken without chewing in the morning, independently on meal time, swallowed down with a small amount of liquid. 5 and 10 mg tablets can be divided into 4 parts.

The recommended dose is 5 mg (1 tablet) per day. In case of moderate hypertension –  2.5 mg 1 time per day (½ tablets of 5 mg). If necessary, the daily dose can be increased to 10 mg (1 tablet) per day. The maximum recommended dose is 20 mg / day.

Side effects

Zebeta (Bisoprolol) the same as other medications can cause sometimes side effects such as: dizziness, headaches, depression, hallucinations, decreased secretion of lacrimal secretions, cramps, muscle weakness, and allergic reactions.
