Acticin (Permethrin) is an insecticidal contact agent that belongs to a group of synthetic pyrethroids. It has a pediculicidal effect, adversely affects the nits, larvae and pubescent forms of head lice. Violates the permeability of sodium channels of insect nerve cell membranes, inhibits the polarization (repolarization) of the nerve cell, which leads to a paralyzing effect. Acticin (Permethrin) is used mainly to treat infestation with Sarcoptes scabies and head lice.
Indication for use
Acticin (Permethrin) Cream can be taken by almost all adults and children over 3 who have: pediculosis (head), scabies and head lice.
Precautions
Acticin (Permethrin) is not recommended to use if you have:
• hypersensitivity (allergy) to one of the components of the drug,
• acute inflammatory processes on the scalp.
Avoid contact with the mucous membrane of the eyes or genitals. In case of such contact, rinse with running water. In case of pregnancy or period of lactation you have to apply the cream only under doctor’s control.
Dose and usage
Acticin (Permethrin) Cream 5% – 60 mg, light yellow substance with low odour in tube.
The medication is intended for external use only! Apply the cream evenly with a tampon to the hair, hair roots and scalp. Particular attention should be paid to the area of the ears and the nape. Cover the hair with a handkerchief. Maintain for 10-40 minutes. Wash with water and shampoo, then dry. At the end of treatment, it is recommended to comb the hair with a frequent comb to remove dead lice and nits. For a more reliable effect, after a week the treatment should be repeated in the same order.
If noticeable irritation effects appear on the skin for the first time, it is permissible to carry out re-treatment only if lice or lice (nits) have been detected 7 days after the decontamination procedure.
Side effects
In rare cases, therapy with this medication can cause mild and temporary adverse reactions in the form of allergic reactions of local nature, in particular: rash; dermatitis; allergic hives; light burning sensations; skin redness; irritations; itching; edema.
