Actos (Pioglitazone) is a hypoglycemic medicine. The effect of Aktos depends on the
presence of insulin. It reduces the insulin resistance of the tissues and liver, as a result the
absorption of glucose by the tissues increases and its release from the liver
decreases. In patients with type II diabetes mellitus, it lowers the blood levels of insulin, sugar levels, as well
as glycosylated hemoglobin. Actos is prescribed to people with type II diabetes (alone or in combination
with metformin, insulin) as an addition to exercise and diet therapy.
Indication for use
Actos (Pioglitazone) can be taken by
almost all adults and teenagers over 18 who have type II diabetes.
Precautions
Actos (Pioglitazone) is not recommended to use if you have:
· hypersensitivity
to pioglitazone or to one of the components of the medicine;
· type
1 diabetes mellitus;
· diabetic
ketoacidosis;
· pregnancy,
the period of breastfeeding;
· severe
heart failure III-IV degree according.
Dose and usage
Dose of Actos (Pioglitazone): 15mg, 30mg, 45mg – white round flat tablets.
Not forget to consult with your attending physician before starting the
treatment.
Actos (Pioglitazone) should be taken
orally, only once per day. If it is decided to use monotherapy for patients who
do not benefit from diet therapy and physical activity, the medicine is
prescribed for taking in the amount of 15 or 30 mg of a single dose for one
day. The largest dose allowed is 45 mg per day. You can take the drug as part
of combination therapy.
Side effects
Influence
of this medicine can trigger some side: weight gain; anemia; decreased visual acuity;
hemoglobin decrease; swelling hepatitis; hypoglycemia.
