Dramamine (Dimenhydrinate)
The pills of Dramamine come in round shapes of white or yellow colors depending on the dosage and the manufacturer. The usual dosage for one tablet, which contains dimenhydrinate, is 50 mg. Dramamine represents an antihistamine solution aimed at reducing the action of the body’s histamine chemical. The active component is dimenhydrinate.
Pharmacological use
This medicine is used for the prevention and relief of manifestations of the sea and air sickness, with nausea and vomiting of various origins, and also with Meniere’s disease. It blocks histamine H1 receptors and m-cholinergic receptors of the central nervous system. This solution inhibits the hyperstimulated function of the labyrinth. It has an antiemetic, anti-nausea, sedative, moderate anti-allergic effect, eliminates dizziness. The action manifests after 20-30 minutes and lasts for 4-6 hours.
