Careprost (Bimatoprost) is a medication for the treatment of open-angle glaucoma, lowers intraocular pressure, stimulates eyelash growth. The mechanism of action of Careprost is to simulate prostamides. The gradual decrease in intraocular pressure is due to the swelling of the intraocular fluid through the trabecular network and uveoscleral outflow. The drug easily penetrates the sclera and cornea. It has a low systemic effect does not accumulate in the body.
Indication for use
Careprost (Bimatoprost) can be taken by almost all adults who have open-angle glaucoma and ophthalmic hypertension in adults (as monotherapy or in combination with beta-blockers).
Precautions
Careprost (Bimatoprost) is not recommended to use if you have hypersensitivity to one of the commponents; pregnancy; breastfeeding period; age up to 18 years.
Dose and usage
Careprost (Bimatoprost) is available in the form of colorless eye drops. The bottle is made of plastic with a lid-dispenser contains 3 ml of substance.
The recommended dose is one drop of Careprost (Bimatoprost) in the affected eye (s) 1 time / day in the evening. Do not exceed the recommended dose. When using more than one ophthalmic preparation for topical use, it is necessary to observe the interval of 5 min between the introduction of each of them.
The substance begins to act 4 hours after instillation, the maximum effect is reached in 8-12 hours. The duration of the drug – 24 hours.
Side effects
Itching of the eyes; conjunctival hyperemia; growth and darkening of eyelashes; intraocular inflammation; impaired vision; pigmentation of the periocular area; tearing, pain, burning; photophobia; feeling of a foreign body; allergic conjunctivitis; enhanced iris pigmentation. There were also side effects not related to vision: headache, upper respiratory tract infections, asthenic condition.
