Desyrel (Trazodone) is an antidepressant. The chemical structure of this medication differs from large classes of antidepressants. It has sedative properties, so it is also used as a sleeping pill, often with other antidepressants. Desyrel (Trazodone) restores imbalance of chemicals in the brain leading to depression.
Indication for use
Desyrel (Trazodone) can be taken by almost all adults who have :
• various forms of depression (depressed state / endogenous, psychotic, neurotic, somatogenic, etc),
• organic diseases of the central nervous system,
• somatic diseases (diseases of internal organs), complicated with mental disorders (anxiety, anxiety).
Precautions
Desyrel (Trazodone) is not recommended to use if you have severe hypersensitivity (allergy) to the main or to one of the auxiliary components; alcohol intoxication and intoxication with sleeping pills; age up to 18; experience of myocardial infarction (early recovery period); AV blockade, hypertension, ventricular arrhythmia, hepatic and / or renal failure; pregnancy and period of lactation.
Dose and usage
Desyrel (Trazodone) can be in different dosage: 50 mg, 100mg – white, round tablet; 150 mg, 300mg – white, rectangular tablet.
Desyrel (Trazodone) is prescribed inside after meal. The initial dose is 50 mg 3 times a day, then depending on the type and severity of depression, up to 300-500 mg per day. The therapeutic effect is usually observed 3-7 days after the start of treatment.
Side effects
Fatigue, drowsiness, headache, dizziness, insomnia, lowering blood pressure are rare and pass with decreasing dose. Inform your doctor about any symptoms.
