The pills of Lamictal come in the hexagon shape of white, yellow, coral or blue colors depending on the dosage and the producer. The usual dosages for one tablet, which contains lamotrigine, are 25, 100, 150, and 200 mg. This medicine belongs to the group of antiepileptic remedies. The active component is lamotrigine.

Lamictal belongs to the group of anticonvulsants that affect the channels and the mechanism of transport of sodium ions. As a result, the cause of seizures and epilepsy is neutralized, which is the pathological activity of neural membranes. The secondary effect of the drug slows the release of glutamic acid molecules. This substance is a key factor affecting the causes of an epileptic seizure. Lamictal contains the active component lamotrigine, which has linear pharmacokinetic properties, at a maximum dosage of up to 450 mg. The top concentration of the substance in the blood plasma occurs 2.5 hours after the first dose. It is used as part of complex therapy for the treatment of Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and psycho-emotional disorders of tonic-clonic origin. The medicine is allowed to be used by both adults and children, adolescents.
